Vogel by Schimmel
Tradition and craftsmanship continue
In 1882, Wilhelm Schimmel learned the craft of piano manufacture at the piano factory “Vogel & Sohn” in Leipzig. Only three years later, he founded his own piano manufacturing company – with great success.
Today, Hannes Schimmel-Vogel preserves the family business in the fourth generation. He places emphasis on company expansion and has invested in an additional production site in Kalisz, Poland. Under the stringent management and quality control on the part of Schimmel, this is the production site for the brand Vogel which is manufactured as a reminiscence of the founding generation.
Vogel instruments offer a balanced feeling of playing and a corresponding tone quality which owes a great deal to the high quality components originating at Schimmel in Braunschweig – for example, the Schimmel action, keyboards and sounding boards. This is augmented by the utilisation of selected materials such as spruce resonance wood originating from higher mountainous regions and also hammer-heads and strings which have been “made in Germany”. This is how we breathe new life into old traditions – for great pleasure in piano playing!

Great centres of piano manufacture
The passion for piano music provides the mainspring for extraordinary ideas and great commitment in piano manufacturing. This holds true for Braunschweig, the German centre of piano manufacture, and to an equal degree for Kalisz, the oldest city in Poland. This is the country’s piano manufacturing centre and is well-known for its excellent craftsmanship and a ripe tradition in piano manufacture which has continued down through many generations. The character of Kalisz has been shaped by piano manufacture, the national piano manufacturing school and numerous restoration firms and has become a focal point for piano making specialists. Here, craftsmen can be discovered who possess inestimably valuable abilities which are extremely rare today – for example in the crafts of wood inlay and turnery.
The Vogel upright and grand pianos directly benefit from this great care to detail which prompts us to assert: there is no better European
site for the manufacture of grand and upright pianos which are so attractively priced for quality-conscious customers.
VOGEL PIANOS are manufactured in a Schimmel owned, managed and controlled factory in Kalisz / Poland. The employees are trained by Schimmel, the instruments are designed by Schimmel and major parts like keys, soundboards and strings as well as the strongback assembly for uprights are delivered directly from Schimmel Braunschweig, Germany.
VOGEL by Schimmel is designed to become the new market standard in its price range and the European alternative to instruments from Asia.
