Piano Tuning
Gary tunes by ear and has achieved the standard of "AQF level 4" (this is the standard set by APTTA, the national association of piano tuners to eventually achieve government recognition of piano tuners).
Most pianos need tuning once a year. If you have a new piano it may need tuning two or three times a year for the two years. If a piano is sitting in the corner and is not being used it still needs a tune every two years. The benefit of this is the piano is still playable and your tuner can check the condition of the felts to see if silver fish, moths or mice are attacking your piano. Also if your piano is tuned to concert pitch it will need a tuning once a year to stop it from dropping pitch.
It can be expensive to pull your piano up to pitch again. However not all pianos can hold a tuning at concert pitch (A440) so Gary is equally at ease tuning pianos at a lower pitch.
The main aim of Piano Magic is to get your piano playing better through Tuning and Regulating.
